The Division 2 dev casually confirms open beta

A developer on The Division 2 has let slip that the game is getting an open beta.

Ubisoft has yet to officially announce an open beta for The Division 2, of course, but the reveal is hardly surprising. During a livestream on the game’s official Twitch channel, one of the hosts said some of the bugs seen in the private beta will be fixed in the open beta.

The Division’s Twitch channel has been running 24/7 livestreams since the start of the private beta, with members of the development team, QA and community all taking turns running the show.

You can see the moment it happened in TiniestBuckle‘s clip below.

The original game followed a similar schedule, with a closed beta in January, and an open beta in February. The timeline is a little different for The Division 2, given its March 15 release date compared to the first game’s March 8.

The Division 2’s open beta will likely take place very late in February, or early in March. Ubisoft previously ran open betas for its major games just days before launch, so that’s also a possibility.

In terms of content, the original Division’s open beta included an extra story mission alongside the rest of the closed beta’s content. We’re obviously not yet sure if that too will be the case with The Division 2. It’s worth noting, though, that The Division 2’s private beta is already heavy on content, so Massive may not see the need to add more.

We’ll update you if Ubisoft decides to make it official.

The Division 2 is out March 15 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
